NEW Student Services Building Project
ABOUT US
2019 Cal Poly Pomona College of Engineering
This project was comprised of eleven Civil Engineering students who were led by two advisors. The team conducted field surveys and digital mapping to construct 3D models of the new Student Services Building by integrating various engineering and surveying equipment and softwares. In addition, the team created a BIM model from design plans of various elements including but not limited to civil, structural, architectural, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP).
NATHAN J. BARNETT
STUDENT
Nathan Barnett is a fifth year general option civil engineering student at Cal Poly Pomona. He is currently an intern at Mason West Inc. where he design seismic bracing layouts and make project cost estimates. He plans to take the F.E. exam and will work towards his P.E. license upon graduating. His main focus is structural engineering. This project was especially interesting to him because of the many potential future benefits of using BIM in structural engineering.
CHRISTIAN EMERETT
STUDENT

Christian is a Civil Engineering student with a geospatial option. He currently works at Saddleback Surveys INC. as a Crew Chief, Drone Pilot, and LiDAR Technician. Christian processes and geo-references data prior to performing feature extractions to create surfaces and maps for clients. His time at Cal Poly Pomona has helped him further his career and expand his knowledge in new technology and different softwares. Moreover making him a more versatile asset for his company. This senior project has been a perfect opportunity for him to apply his current knowledge as well as learn new aspects of 3D modeling. Christian is looking forward to seeing his colleagues and himself thrive in the profession with all of the training in new technology that Cal Poly has provided.

NICHOLAS FURR
STUDENT
Nicholas Furr is a Civil Engineering General Option student at Cal Poly Pomona. He currently works at Westland Group with the Utility Engineering Completion Drawing team. He is excited to make a difference in the engineering world upon graduation.
DEMETRIO A. GONZALES
STUDENT
Demetrio Gonzales is a Civil engineering major with a focus on geospatial engineering. He hopes to one day see the fruits of his labor benefit this nation of ours. After graduation, he plans to work in the public sector so that he may directly work for his community. On his free time he likes to build scale models, edit videos, and draw.

ERIC HERMOSO
STUDENT

Eric Hermoso has a piercing hunger for challenges of all levels and complexities as well as the unavoidable failures that come with them. He spends his free time learning and building 3D visualization of objects and developing effective ways to solve computing problems in order to improve visualization methods using a camera phone and a combination of softwares. He enjoys reprogramming remote sensors that can help get data in the field and display the images location based on its latitude and longitude on a map. As data is being abundant, he sees himself mixing data to truly maximize the information it can provide. He sees himself manipulating the data that is obtained from the field, utilizing software such as ArcGis Pro or AutoCad to create schemes and diagrams in order to visualize the data.
